When Tanaka was old enough to leave her home in Netherlands, she went to South Africa, where she found her new home with Kimekai chow chows. In South Africa you can take a dog to championship shows from the age of six months. It is very difficult for a dog that age to win, because she is competing with the adults. Vanessa took Tanaka to her first championship show when she was six months old.
